Today, I want to discuss an important reality for CEOs — while you set the strategic direction, you shouldn’t decide everything.
1. Expertise.
Whatever your skill set, you don’t know everything. So, for many decisions, it’s better to rely on your talented team’s specialized knowledge.
2. Consensus.
Sometimes, the rest of the team may want you don’t. For example, on a flexible work-from-home policy, you may have to accept consensus.
3. Micromanagement.
Trying to govern every decision will hurt morale and productivity. Set the vision and short-term goals, then let your team figure out the best way to get it done.
Best of luck out there.
