Today, we’re talking about time vs manpower and in my opinion: Time is more important than manpower.
For most founders, once their seed round closes, there is an immediate rush to hire aggressively. Of course, most teams should add to their headcount but remember, every $ you spend now on an employee, means less runway for the company to figure things out. Oftentimes adding more people won’t help you reach product market fit faster. Plus hiring, onboarding and managing a lot of people is even more distracting. It’s usually best to keep the team small until you have a repeatable way to find your customers and strong satisfaction from those customers.
Once you do have that product market fit — then you can scale your hiring. But not before.
