There are lots of important issues at stake in this election, with both left and right claiming it’s the most important of our lives, and we simply must vote for them to save the country as we know it.
However, this year the issue of Women’s health and reproductive rights seems overwhelming to me. Since the end of Roe v Wade more than a dozen states have enacted near total bans on abortion, causing terrible consequences for women across the country.
We are seeing regular stories of women struggling as they drag themselves to hospital after hospital, seeking life-saving care during a miscarriage. We are seeing legal attacks on IVF. We have seen judges decide that doctor recommendations are not enough and an unviable pregnancy must continue. We have seen deaths.
To be clear, these were not women seeking an abortion, these were pregnant women who wanted a child. They just needed a doctor and couldn’t get help because of these new laws. The laws made their medical team refuse or hesitate or wait for confirmation and ultimately the patient pays the price.
Leaving reproductive rights to the States is the situation Former President Trump created with his judge selections and a policy position he continues to openly hold. Regardless of my feelings on tax policy, I love my wife and I won’t vote against her health. I’m voting for Harris.
