All potential employees for your startup want to talk to the CEO. And for the first 10 employees, the CEO should be the first and last person they communicate with.
1. Outreach
While the CEO may not physically write and send every initial message, the outreach should come from their name, using a template they edited and approved. This will increase your response rates significantly.
2. Job Offers
It’s uniquely exciting when the CEO of a company calls to offer you the job. Try to do this as a company for as long as you can. The impact it generates is real and can be the difference when closing someone.
3. Negotiations
If a potential employee does want to negotiate, the CEO is best placed to handle this. They know the reality of the cap table and budget, plus anything they agree to is final, allowing for a faster turnaround when closing a candidate in demand.
Best of luck out there.
